Amlodipine is a medication belonging to the class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and lowering blood pressure.
USES
Amlodipine 5 mg is primarily used for:
Hypertension (high blood pressure) – Helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.
Angina (chest pain) – Helps improve blood flow to the heart and prevents chest pain.
Sometimes used in other heart-related conditions, as determined by a doctor.
How It Works
Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium from entering the muscle cells of the arteries.
This reduces blood pressure and improves blood flow to the heart, helping to prevent chest pain.
DOSE
5 mg once daily for adults, Depending on the patient’s response and blood pressure, it may be increased to 10 mg once daily.
Should be taken at the same time each day for best effect.
