INFORMATION ABOUT PANTOPRAZOLE
Pantoprazole sodium is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It reduces stomach acid production by blocking the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme (“proton pump”) in the stomach lining.
USES OF PANTOPRAZOLE
Pantoprazole 40 mg is commonly prescribed for the management of conditions associated with excessive gastric acid secretion, including Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD / acid reflux), Erosive esophagitis (acid-caused inflammation), Stomach & duodenal ulcers, Zollinger–Ellison syndrome (excess acid production), Prevention of NSAID-related ulcers in some cases.
HOW ITS WORK
- Enters acid-producing cells in the stomach
- Binds to and blocks the proton pump
- Dramatically reduces acid secretion for 24 hours or longer
DOSE : Often once daily, typically 30–60 minutes before a meal (usually breakfast).
