This is a cold and cough combination commonly used to treat multiple symptoms at once. It contains 3 medicines Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide – Cough suppressant, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride – Nasal decongestant, Chlorpheniramine Maleate – Anti-allergic (antihistamine).
This combination is used to treat symptoms of Common cold, Allergic rhinitis, Flu (viral infection), Sinus congestion, Cough (dry cough mainly) and others.
How its work
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide Works on the cough center in the brain, Reduces the urge to cough. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Constricts (tightens) blood vessels in the nose, Reduces swelling and congestion Makes breathing easier. Chlorpheniramine Maleate Blocks histamine, a chemical responsible for allergy symptoms, Reduces Runny nose, Sneezing, Watery eyes, Itching and others.
Side effects
Common side effects are Drowsiness / sleepiness, Dry mouth, Dizziness, Nausea, Constipation and etc. and some less common but serious side effects Rapid heartbeat (palpitations), High blood pressure, Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty) etc.
